Word Wonder (“the App”, “we”, “us”) is a spelling-practice app for children, published by Lubo Shang. We built Word Wonder to be private by default: it works without any account, sign-in, or personal details, and we collect as little information as possible. This policy explains the limited information the App handles and why.
Profile information you create in the App. When you set up a learner profile, you may enter a nickname and choose an avatar, and the App records learning data such as the current level, streaks, spelling progress, and challenge results. This information is stored on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, it is also synced through your own private iCloud account so progress follows you across your Apple devices. We have no access to your iCloud data.
Usage and diagnostic data. To understand how the App is used and to fix problems, we use Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics). These tools automatically collect anonymous technical information such as device model, operating-system version, app version, general region, in-app events (for example, starting a challenge or finishing onboarding), and crash reports. This data is not used to identify any individual child. Firebase may assign a random app-instance identifier to your installation.
Subscription information. Subscriptions are purchased and managed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles all payment details — we never see or store your payment information. The App only receives your current subscription status from Apple so it can unlock premium features.
We do not ask for names, email addresses, phone numbers, precise location, photos from your library, or any other personal contact information.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
Word Wonder is intended for children to use, and protecting children’s privacy matters to us. The App does not require children to provide any personal information, contains no third-party advertising, and gives children no way to share personal information publicly or to communicate with other users. The limited usage and diagnostic data described above is collected in aggregate to operate and improve the App — not to identify or profile any child. We encourage parents and guardians to supervise their children’s use of the App and to review this policy.
The App relies on a small number of trusted service providers:
Profile and progress data stay on your device (and in your iCloud, if enabled) until you delete them. Anonymous analytics and crash data are retained by our service providers for a limited period in line with their standard retention policies.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. The current version is always available at this address.
